NLC Support Staff Development & Training Fund Committee
The NLC Support Staff Development and Training Fund Standing Committee has been established as a negotiated benefit between Northern Lights College and the BCGEU 710 Support Staff. The Committee is made up of two appointed Support Staff representatives and two Management members. The Committee's scope is to administer a predetermined budget as outlined in the Letter of Understanding #14 in the BCGEU 710 NLC Support Staff Collective Agreement 2019-2022. This fund will enable eligible BCGEU 710 regular and seasonal Support Staff employees to access training, learning, and career development opportunities including but not limited to - courses, workshops, and seminars that will:
develop professional attributes, abilities & skills;
enhance work performance, capacity or effectiveness;
prepare for an expanded or different role; or
contribute overall to the successful achievement of NLC's mandate
The purpose of the fund is to encourage and assist employees in maintaining and improving skills to prepare for more complex positions in the foreseeable future through one of two avenues:
Job Training
Job Training is intended to assist employees in maintaining and improving knowledge and skills, in order that the employee may perform the duties outlined in the position description.
Career Development
Career development enables the employees to prepare for promotional advancement within the College and to improve their present knowledge and skills.
