Occupational First Aid - Level 1
WorkSafe BC OFA Level 1 is an Emergency Services Training course. Trainees learn about basic life support, CPR, wound care, and more. This course is aimed at those who will be designated workplace first aiders on job sites within 20 minutes of a hospital.
Blended Level 1 Occupational First Aid:
Blended Level 1 Occupational First Aid is a combination between online learning modules and in-class training and testing. With blended learning, trainees can take much of the course online and only need to come into class for hands-on training and certification.
Topics Include:
The one-day Level 1 Occupational First Aid course is offered in-class. Trainees learn about the EMS system and the Check>Call>Care order of operations. They then learn how to respond to airway blockages and breathing and circulation emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies, and how to perform basic wound care. Diseases, poisons, traumatic injuries and spinal injuries may also be briefly covered. Trainees must pass a written exam and may be evaluated on simulated occupational first aid scenarios as well.
