Rope Rescue Training Level 2 (Technician)
This 8 day course is a combination of classroom and practical groundwork, plus an external evaluation. By the end of the course, participants will have an advanced knowledge of equipment identification and selection, anchoring and rigging techniques, packaging, and mechanical advantage systems. The focus is on confined space and high angle rope rescue. A participant leaving this course will be professionally capable of protecting themselves in rescue situations, will be able to employ advanced safe and efficient rescue techniques, and can provide rescues in survival situations.
Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:
This course requires at a minimum Level 1 High Angle and Confined Space Rescue training or equivalent.
The Level 2 Technician course provides individuals with an advanced ability to identify hazards, use equipment, and perform technical rescue operations as per NFPA 1006 standards.
The Level 2 course will provide further instruction on all topics covered in the Level 1 course, as well as introducing the following:
- Confined Space Entry & Monitor
- Rescue Planning
- Rappelling and Bottom Belay
- Action Plan
- Gain an advanced ability to identify and mitigate hazards
- Gain an understanding of advanced rescue scenarios
- Meet NFPA 1006 Standards
